What a review is here, and what it refuses to be

Most casino reviews are a description of a lobby with a score attached. The description comes from the operator, the score comes from nowhere in particular, and neither survives contact with the question a Canadian reader is actually asking: may I lawfully use this site where I live, and how long will it take to pay me?

So each page here answers those two and stops. The registration half is binary and public — AGCO and AGLC both publish lists, and we match by brand name before a record is created. The payout half is a record: a window from withdrawal request to funds arriving, per rail. We have not independently timed every brand yet — that is stated on each record rather than papered over.

Eligibility is not a property of a brand

It is a property of a brand in a province, which is why every table on this site has province columns rather than a single "licensed" tick. Of the 8 brands here, two appear on both private registers — Ontario and Alberta — and the rest on one only. Those two are Casino Days, Caesars.

Three of the brands here also carry an offshore licence alongside a provincial registration — JackpotCity, Royal Vegas, Spin Casino. That is normal for operators who were in Canada before the regulated markets opened, and it is not a second reason to trust them: only the provincial registration governs an account opened from a regulated province. A comparison page that counts both licences as trust signals is counting one company twice.

Why the scores cluster

The 8 scores on this page run from 8.2 to 9.4 — a span of 1.2 points on a ten-point scale. That narrowness is not laziness, it is what happens when the first check is binary. Every brand here has already cleared registration; a site that fails it is not scored badly, it is absent. So the score is not discriminating between "legal" and "dubious" — it is discriminating between brands that are all lawful in at least one Canadian market.

What is left to separate them is narrower and more mundane than a review score usually implies: how long the withdrawal takes, how many rails work in both directions, whether the minimum deposit is C$10 or C$20, whether support answers outside business hours, and whether the terms say what the cashier page says. Those move a score by tenths, which is why the spread looks compressed compared with sites that score a lobby out of ten.

The practical reading: do not choose between two brands on this page because one scores 9.4 and another 9.2. Choose on the column that matters to you — the payout window if you withdraw often, the rails if your bank is awkward, the province columns if you move between Ontario and Alberta. The score exists to order the table, not to make the decision.

The gap, named

82 sites hold an Ontario registration as of July 22, 2026, and 27 are live in Alberta. We publish 8 records. The difference is our coverage, not the market, and there are two distinct reasons for it.

• 2 brands are registered and held back for want of assets, not eligibility: TonyBet, Tooniebet. A ranking row without a logo reads as a broken page, so they wait.
• Some records are incomplete. We hold registration status but not the payment detail a review needs, so there is a data row and no page.
• 23 live Alberta sites are brands we have no relationship with and cannot yet describe in detail. They are named on the Alberta page rather than quietly omitted.

Publishing the gap is cheaper than pretending there isn't one, and it is the only honest way to run a comparison site that also earns a commission.
