The Ontario online casino market has been regulated since April 4, 2022 — longer than anywhere else in Canada, and long enough that the register is now the only shortcut worth taking. This page holds what the register says, what it does not cover, and which sites we could match against it.

How AGCO registration works in Ontario
Two bodies share the job, and confusing them is the most common mistake on comparison pages. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario is the regulator: it registers operators and suppliers, sets the Registrar's Standards for Internet Gaming, and can suspend a registration. iGaming Ontario is the commercial counterparty — a subsidiary of AGCO that signs the operating agreement with each registered operator and technically conducts and manages the games.
The practical effect is that an Ontario online casino is not "licensed" in the way a Malta or Curaçao licence works. It holds an AGCO registration and an iGO operating agreement, and both can be checked on a public list. That is why registration, and not a badge in a footer, is the first of our four checks.
The phrase online casino Ontario covers two very different things once you look closely: a site that iGaming Ontario has contracted, and a site that merely accepts players from the province. Only the first has a Canadian regulator standing behind the dispute process, the account-verification rules and the advertising restrictions.
The Ontario online casino list, and what it leaves out
As of July 22, 2026 the register held 48 operators running 82 sites. One operator can run several Ontario online casino brands, which is why the two numbers differ and why counting brands tells you very little about how many companies are actually in the market.
We list 8 of them below. That is not the whole register: we only publish a brand once we hold the operator record, the payment-rail detail and a logo asset for it, and we would rather show 8 entries we can stand behind than 82 rows of scraped names. 2 brands are registered and waiting on assets rather than on eligibility.
An online casino Ontario residents can legally use is, in every case, one that appears on that public register. If a site is not there, the question of how good it is never arises on this site.
What the register does not tell you
- How fast the site actually pays. Registration is a licensing fact, not a service level — we time the payout window per rail instead.
- Which payment methods reach you in Ontario. Interac e-Transfer is near-universal; the rest varies per brand.
- How support behaves at 2am on a Sunday, which is when it matters.
- Whether the brand you recognise from television is the same legal entity as the one that holds the registration.

Why you will not see promotional copy on this page
AGCO’s marketing standards prohibit advertising or marketing that communicates inducements to players located in Ontario, and the restriction is written broadly enough to reach affiliates rather than stopping at the operator. A comparison page that leads with headline offers is not describing the Ontario market; it is describing a market where that copy is allowed and hoping nobody in Ontario reads it.
We took the strict reading and applied it across every page of this site, in both languages, rather than serving one version of a page to Ontario and another to Nova Scotia. It costs real search traffic — a large, well-priced part of the Canadian casino search market is written in exactly the vocabulary we will not use. What is left is the part we can verify: registration, payout window, payment rails, support and terms.
Paying and being paid in Ontario
Interac e-Transfer is the default. Deposits clear in minutes at every registered site in our records, and the withdrawal side is where the brands separate — the same rail can pay out in 24 hours at one site and take three days at another. Bank-linked services such as iDebit and InstaDebit behave similarly and avoid putting a casino line on a card statement. Cards work for deposits and are consistently the slowest way to be paid back.
Cryptocurrency is not permitted under the iGaming Ontario framework. This is a useful test in itself: a site advertising crypto deposits to an Ontario audience is telling you, without meaning to, that it is not operating under Ontario registration.
Age, location and the two thresholds
Ontario runs two ages. Casino games and sports betting start at 19; lottery and charitable gaming start at 18. Registered sites check identity and age at sign-up or before the first withdrawal, and a mismatch between the name on the account and the name on the payment method will stop a payout.
Location matters more than residency. iGaming Ontario puts it plainly: eligible iGames conducted and managed by iGO are only available to those physically present in the Province of Ontario. An Ontario resident sitting in Halifax is not covered by the Ontario framework that afternoon.
